Question: Did Vic do the job?
Answer: Yes, Vic did the job. I started with two bathrooms. He gutted them and re-did them.
Question: How did you get hold of Vic?
Answer: Many years ago I worked for a savings bank organization and we always recommended that people deal with the National Association of Home Improvement. I don't know what it's called now, but he's a member. And I always check whenever I'm having anything done. I check that whoever gets the job is a member of this organization. And he was on the list. I went to his website and I saw the jobs he had done. And I looked at the testimonials from the people. I decided I would have him come and give me an estimate.
Question: So he came over and you told him what you wanted?
Answer: Yes, and I had really made most of the choices of the surfaces that I wanted. I went to a tile store on Sunrise Highway and asked them who they worked with. They said Vic. They liked him very much and they highly recommended him. So that's the second recommendation that I got. I picked the surfaces I wanted to use, and so when Vic came, he measured and we discussed what I wanted done. He got back to me the next day with an estimate for the job, which was very impressive.
Question: Was the estimate he gave you the same as the final bill?
Answer: Yes.
Question: Did you work with him on the design?
Answer: I picked the surfaces and he and I worked on where to place things, in what direction things would go, because the downstairs bathroom in particular, was a very small bathroom and I had decided to enclose a coat closet and put it into the space. By adding the 3' x 3' coat closet, I got lots more space.
Question: Did he have anything to do with coming up with that idea?
Answer: Yes. We worked together and I couldn't see any other way not to do that.
Question: Did he give you a sketch?
Answer: He didn't really give me a sketch. We decided where things would go. And that was good enough. It wasn't a large space. Not very complicated.
Question: Did he give you a date when he would start?
Answer: He gave me an approximate date. He was going to Florida and I was going to Florida. So we decided when we got back, the job would start at some point after that.
Question: When everyone got back and a date was decided, was he here like he said?
Answer: Oh yeah. Absolutely.
Question: Did he clean away all the rubble from the demolition?
Answer: Yes. He had a demolition crew in here. And they had a truck. They carried it all off and left the place clean.
Question: Was the job duration within the time he said?
Answer: It was within an acceptable amount. We had a problem with the tile people. It had nothing to do with him. They delivered the wrong tile and had to come and pick it up. It didn't make a big difference in time, to tell the truth. I think it was maybe four days tops.
Question: Did Vic actually work on this project?
Answer: Actually, Vic did my upstairs bathroom. As I understand, he usually does kitchens but he was very intrigued by what we were going to do up there. It may just have been that he didn't have anybody else available. And he was also very interested in what we were going to do. So he did the upstairs bathroom himself.
Question: Did he check in?
Answer: Oh yeah, all the time. And he would call me and asked if this or that was done.
Question: Were you satisfied with the people he hired?
Answer: Yes.
Question: Were they polite and on time?
Answer: Yes.
Question: Were you satisfied with Vic?
Answer: Very satisfied. That's why I had him come back afterwards and do the hutch unit about three months later.
Question: Would you recommend him to other people?
Answer: I would recommend him to anyone.
Question: Do you think his estimate was a fair market rate?
Answer: I don't know. I do know that one of the things I liked about him was that he uses a high-end product. If I had wanted something else, I suppose he would have done something else. For example, the cabinets are all wood. That's a semi-custom job and it costs a lot of money. But that's what I wanted. I didn't want to go to the neighborhood place who will put a bathroom in for eight thousand dollars. It's not what I wanted. I wanted a class job and I expected to pay for that. And I got exactly what I paid for and more.
Question: Does everything work properly?
Answer: Yes.
Question: After the job was done, did he come around and inspect everything?
Answer: Yes.
